Year of Global Africa: Nelson Mandela @ 100 Symposium  (Academic)

In commemoration of Nelson Mandela's 100th anniversary, Michigan State University Museum and the Nelson Mandela Museum will launch an array of student-led and centered events. There will be various crosscultural activities for MSU and the Lansing area surrounding the legacy of Nelson Mandela in collaboration with Stellenbosch University Museum. The symposium features the Ubuntu Dialogues, cross cultural conversations between students in South Africa and the United States. There will be presentations from prominent cultural heritage workers surrounding the legacy of Nelson Mandela. The event also includes MSU students' experiences in South Africa, visual displays and an Open Mic Night involving critical social justice issues and solutions as they relate to both countries.
