Public Programs

The fashion industry is a surprisingly big culprit when it comes to carbon footprints, accounting for about 10% of global environmental pollution. Fast fashion in particular encourages consumers to discard clothes after only a few wears and continuously buy more. However, there is a growing movement toward sustainable clothing, one that is more fashion-forward than you might think. In this conversation, we will hear from experts on earth-friendly textile design, eco-certification, and the future of Gen Z fashion. Moderated by Mary Worrall, MSU Museum curator of textiles and social justice. Register Here: bit.ly/Register_Textiles This program is in conjunction with the exhibition 1.5° Celsius which explores the global climate crisis on view in the MSU Museum's Main Gallery September 6, 2022 - February 25, 2023. ]]>

Fire of Love | Film Screening http://events.msu.edu/main.php?view=event&calendarid=default&eventid=1675366827681
Public Programs

Fire of Love tells the story of two French lovers, Katia and Maurice Krafft, who died in a volcanic explosion doing the very thing that brought them together: unraveling the mysteries of our planet, while simultaneously capturing the most explosive volcano imagery ever recorded. Along the way, they changed our understanding of the natural world, and saved tens of thousands of lives. Previously unseen hours of pristine 16-millimeter film and thousands of photographs reveal the birth of modern volcanology through an unlikely lens - the love of its two pioneers.
