DESCRIPTION:
 An introduction to theories and methods of qualitative 
 field research\n
 \n
 This course reviews 
 reasons as to why scholars would want to use 
 qualitative research, discusses the application 
 of social theory, examines relations between 
 researchers and subjects and describes basic 
 methods of fieldwork research, including 
 participant observation, in-depth interviews, 
 and photoelicitation. Finally, it summarizes 
 techniques for coding and analyzing fieldwork 
 data and writing up results.\n

 Participants 
 will have an opportunity to code and analyze 
 in-depth interview transcripts provided by 
 the instructor. This workshop will be presented 
 by Dr. Steven Gold. Registration begins January
