SUMMARY:Center for Statistical Training & Consulting Workshop: Multi-Level Modeling
DESCRIPTION:
This workshop, presented by Dr. Tenko Raykov,
is a follow up of introductory workshops on multilevel
 (hierarchical) modeling that CSTAT
has offered on a few occasions in the past.
The workshop begins with outlining a method for
interval estimation of the intraclass correlation
 coefficient, a highly informative index
in decisions whether to proceed with two-level
modeling at all versus conventional single-level
modeling. A method extension is then
described, which addresses the related issue
whether one could use popular and easier to
 interpret two-level models rather than a three-level
modeling approach, in an empirical setting
 with clustered data. Multilevel methods
for analyzing longitudinal data are then discussed.
At the software level, the latent
variable modeling programs Mplus and LISREL are
utilized. (Free of charge versions of these
software are available, which can be used
for accomplishing the goals of the workshop,
and can be downloaded from www.statmodel.com
 and www.ssicentral.com, respectively.) Throughout
the workshop, data examples are used to
 illustrate the discussed methods.\n\n
