SUMMARY:Center for Statistical Training & Consulting Workshop: Meta-Analysis
DESCRIPTION:
This workshop, presented by Dr. Spyros Konstantopoulos,
will provide an overview of meta-analysis,
a statistical method for combining empirical
 evidence across studies that examine
a certain topic and test comparable hypotheses.
First, we will discuss the early stages of
synthesizing research across a sample of studies
such as data collection, coding, and data
evaluation. Second, we will present the most
commonly used indexes of effect sizes. Then,
we will focus on the statistical methods involved
 when integrating research evidence. We
will cover both fixed and mixed effects models
and discuss their usefulness. Finally, multiple
examples will be provided and SAS will
be used to demonstrate the usefulness of the
methods using real data. Registration begins
 February 1, 2010. Please visit www.cstat.msu.edu
