 genetics of galactosemia; understand the clinical 
 presentation of the disorder and how to 
 make the diagnosis; learn how newborn screening 
 assists in the diagnosis and alters the 
 natural history of the disease; know the late-onset 
 complications of the disorder and their 
 consequences in the treated patient; and discuss 
 the current theories about the pathology 
 of the disorder and why current available treatment
