DESCRIPTION:
 <p>Join us for a conversation with American composer 
 John Corigliano, winner of the Pulitzer 
 Prize, an Academy Award (for the score to <i>The 
 Red Violin</i>), and multiple Grammys.</p>\n
 <p>Mr. 
 Corigliano will discuss the relationship 
 between music and film, providing an 
 overview of the scoring process and describing 
 how music contributes to the overall effect 
 of a film, propelling its story and creating 
 a specific emotional response in the viewer. 
 He will talk about his experiences in writing 
 the scores of "Altered States," "Revolution," 
 and "The Red Violin" and share anecdotes about 
 working with Hollywood directors and producers. 
 Film clips will be shown and the discussion 
 will include an audience Q&A.</p>\n
 <p>This 
 event is part of Mr. Corigliano's weeklong 
 residency in the MSU College of Music that 
 will be capped off with a concert on Saturday, 
 April 24, featuring his modern masterpieces 
 <i>The Red Violin Caprices</i>, <i>Circus Maximus</i>, 
 and <i>Pied Piper Fantasy</i>.</p>\n
