 Dr. Winge will present her research in a lecture 
 titled, When is a Punk NOT a Punk?: The DIY 
 Ethos, Ethic, and Aesthetics of Subcultural 
 Dress Codes. When is a Punk NOT a Punk? hen 
 that Punk shopped at Hot Topic, Subcultures are 
 identified based on their distinct and subversive 
 dress. Decoding the dynamic visual culture 
 of various subcultures' dress reveals similar 
 underlying DIY guidelines. Winge will 
 explore how the DIY ethos, ethic, and aesthetics 
 are utilized to create visually recognizable 
 subversive dress codes of urban subcultures.
