SUMMARY:Yellow journalism and Public TV service in Taiwan
DESCRIPTION:
 This presentation will briefly introduce the democratization 
 of TV news system after the "cold 
 war" between China and Taiwan. Several issues 
 will also be presented: What does TV news 
 look like in Taiwan, and how do competition 
 among media corporations in Taiwan and Hong 
 Kong contribute to the tabloid phenomenon? And, 
 finally, how is the public TV service struggles 
 in the tabloid wave?  An award-winning 
 documentary "Hermit Crabs in Plastic House" will 
 be screened at the end of the presentation. 
 There will be time for any curiosity and questions 
 about the newsroom and news system in 
 Taiwan. \n
