 films in the continuing MSU Film Collective 
 Fall Series, "Time and Memory."\n

 (nostalgia) engages the concept of cinematic 
 time by leading the viewer through a series 
 of reminiscences associated with a collection 
 of burning photographs.  The film functions 
 as both example and critique, letting the viewer 
 experience the play of differences between 
 time, film, and memory.  \n

 The story of 
 a man haunted by an image from his past, La Jetee 
 illustrates the power of recall in an innovative 
 dystopian narrative.  Composed almost 
 entirely out of still photographs, Chris Marker's 
 acclaimed film remains one of the most 
 enduring classics of science fiction. \n
