SUMMARY:Molecular Investigations into the Causes of Cerebral Palsy
DESCRIPTION:
Presented by: Nigel Paneth, MD, MPH\n
 Professor
 of Epidemiology and Pediatrics\n
 College of
 Human Medicine, Michigan State University\n
 \n
At the end of the activity (presentation), the
participants will be better able to: 1.Appreciate
the prevalence and burden of cerebral
palsy in the U.S.; 2.Gain an understanding of
the major risks of cerebral palsy; 3.Learn about
the use of the transcriptome (mRNA expression)
 in understanding patho-physiologic pathways
 that can lead to neurodevelopmental disorders;
 and 4.Understand how archived newborn
blood spots, leftover from newborn screening,
can be used to provide clues to the causes
of cerebral palsy and perhaps other perinatal
 conditions.\n
