SUMMARY:Performance of "Urbandale: A place, a people, a story"
DESCRIPTION:
At 6:30 p.m. on Friday, February 8, at the Foster
Community Center, see a performance of "Urbandale:
A place, a people, a story." This play
 is about Lansing's Urbandale neighborhood
and what makes it tick. A year in the making,
the play is based on interviews with actual
 neighbors, newspaper accounts, photographs and
 other historic and contemporary materials.\n
 \n
 Houses
will talk. Gardens will grumble, and
the Red Cedar River will overflow her banks.
 If you live in a neighborhood--any neighborhood--you
might find yourself and your friends
 in this play.\n
 \n
 "Urbandale: A place, a people,
a story" was written by students in MSU's
Residential College in the Arts and Humanities
under the direction of anthropologist, Laura
 B. DeLind, and poet, Anita Skeen, and with
the assistance of Kate Snodgrass, award-winning
 director of Boston Playwright's Theatre.
It is funded in part by a grant from the Michigan
 Humanities Council. \n\n
