 At the end of the activity, the participants 
 will be better able to: \n

 1.	Describe the 
 importance of the earl intestinal microbiota 
 to the developing fetus and infant in terms 
 of nutrition and gastrointestinal homeostasis.\n
 2.	Illustrate 
 how new sequencing technologies 
 are being applied to studies of the intestinal 
 microbiota\n
 3.	Summarize recent research 
 that is demonstrating associations between 
 early "dysbiosis" and development of disease.\n
