SUMMARY:Food Field: A Four-acre Detroit Urban Farm
DESCRIPTION:
Located between Boston-Edison and Highland Park
since May 2011, Food Field has harvested thousands
of pounds of organic produce, built
relationships with local chefs and neighbors,
raised a hoop house for year-round growing,
hired local teens, planted an orchard (apples,
pears, cherries, plums, chestnuts, paw paws),
started a flock of egg-laying chickens and
ducks, and installed a 7,000-gallon aquaponics
system raising catfish and blue gill. Food
Field's goal is a sustainable organic farm,
feeding Detroit, and creating a real alternative
to the corporate food system, while bringing
jobs, resources and benefits to the Detroit
 community. \n
 Alex Bryan, Greater Lansing
Food Bank Garden Project Program Manager AND
Food Field co-owner with Noah Link will introduce
you to his and Noah's unique farm.\n
