DESCRIPTION:
 The College of Arts and Letters will conduct a 
 panel discussion in honor of Martin Luther King, 
 Jr. Day on Monday, January 20th from 7:00-9:00 
 PM. The faculty-run panel discussion will 
 take place in room 115 of the International 
 Center. \n
 \n
 This year's topic is &quot;Racial 
 Profiling, a Threat to Justice: Martin Luther 
 King, Jr, Trayvon Martin, and MSU, and will 
 be of interest to students, faculty, and 
 community members from all disciplines and backgrounds. 
 Confirmed panelists include David 
 Kirkland, Writing, Rhetoric, and American Culture 
 and CAITLAH; Sheila Contreras, Department 
 of English; and Catherine Grosso, MSU College 
 of Law. Professor Ken Harrow, College of Arts 
 and Letters Faculty Excellence Advocate, 
 will moderate the panel discussion.\n
 \n
 Several 
 units within the College of Arts and Letters 
 have well-established track records sponsoring 
 activities in connection with Martin Luther 
 King Jr. Day, making this a much anticipated 
 event.  Last year's topic, &quot;Martin Luther 
 King's Legacy and the Future of Affirmative 
 Action&quot; was also very well received 
 by both students and faculty.\n\n
