 Jocelyn Neal 
 is Professor of Music and Adjunct Professor of 
 American Studies at the University of North 
 Carolina at Chapel Hill.  She is the author 
 of _The Songs of Jimmie Rodgers_ (Indiana University 
 Press, 2009); _Country Music:  A Cultural 
 and Stylistic History_ (Oxford University 
 Press, 2013); and co-author with Bill C. Malone 
 of _Country Music U.S.A._, 3rd revised edition 
 (University of Texas Press, 2010), along 
 with numerous articles and book chapters. 
   Her research spans a century of country music, 
 both formal analysis and cultural practice. 
  She teaches music theory and analysis, popular 
 music courses, and courses on music and 
 dance culture.  She holds degrees from Rice 
 University and the Eastman School of Music. \n\n
