DESCRIPTION:
 Research Assistant Professor\n
 Vanderbilt Center
 for Neuroscience Drug Discovery\n
 \n
 Discovery
and Development of Small Molecules As Potential
 First-In-Class Therapeutics\n
 \n
 HOST: Richard
 Neubig, M.D., Ph. D.\n
 \n
 The seminar will
highlight work from my laboratory in the discovery
and development of novel tool compounds
for a variety of therapeutic indications. Work
 covered will include positive allosteric
modulators (PAMs) of the metabotropic glutamate
receptor 4 for Parkinson's disease, novel
 BMP inhibitors/potentiators for Tylenol overdose
 and fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva
(FOP) and inhibitors of TRPC4/5 for the protection
of the kidney filter. Compounds were identified
 by traditional high-throughput screening
as well as from a high-content in vivo
zebrafish screen and optimized utilizing iterative
medicinal chemistry, in vitro and in vivo
PK, and in vivo animal models at Vanderbilt
 University.\n\n
