 asks:  Is our nation headed in the right 
 direction? Clearly, most liberal and conservative 
 observers agree that our system of governance 
 is broken.  I argue that this is largely 
 due to the commonly accepted myths in American 
 society, myths that I challenge.  These myths 
 include that markets increase efficiency 
 by eliminating bureaucracies, markets reduce 
 our dependence on government, competitions improve 
 society, a good society provides a vast 
 number of choices, and governments needs to 
 be smaller.\n\n
