SUMMARY:Join the Conversation: Race, Gender, and Social Justice in Spike Lee's Get on the Bus
DESCRIPTION:
Spike Lee's powerful film Get on the Bus chronicles
the journey of a group of African-American
men headed to the 1995 Million Man March,
a peaceful demonstration which aimed to dispel
stereotypes of black men, unify the community,
and promote positive social change. This
film was selected for discussion on Dr. Martin
Luther King, Jr. Day as it addresses the impact
and social effects of race and racism,
humanizes the struggles of individuals in the
 African-American community, and demonstrates
efforts to move forward. Please join us for
a conversation of clips from the film focusing
on critical themes of race, gender, and social
 justice.\n
