SUMMARY:Altered Tour: 2116, Scientific Forecasts
DESCRIPTION:
Join MSU Chemistry Professor Joseph Ward as we
don our lab coats and experiment with the UNpredictability
of science, art, and the future.
Professor Ward worked with the Broad MSU to
execute Ruth Lyons's work, Storm Glass, currently
on display in 2116: Forecast of the Next
Century. 2116 features work from 16 Irish
artists illustrating their visions for Ireland's
next 100 years. Storm Glassis a barometer,
based on an old Victorian model, which for
Lyons reflects the arbitrary nature of trying
to predict the future. Guided by Professor Ward,
 we'll perform live chemistry experiments
that just might leave us guessing.\n\n
