DESCRIPTION:
 Join Cristina Albu as she discusses contemporary 
 art's use of mirrors to encourage active participation 
 and interpersonal awareness. This 
 presentation will trace the growing integration 
 of reflective media in art starting with 
 the 1960s and incorporate works from our current 
 exhibition, The Transported Man. Albu teaches 
 contemporary art and theory at the University 
 of Missouri. Her recently published book 
 is titled, "Mirror Affect: Seeing Self, Observing 
 Others in Contemporary Art." This event 
 is part of Before Your Very Eyes, a three-part 
 series running throughout August that explores 
 the role you play as viewers in completing 
 an artwork.\n\n
