DESCRIPTION:
 MSU will host the Association of Contemporary 
 African Linguistics' 49th Annual Conference on 
 African Linguistics (ACAL) from March 22 to 
 March 25, 2018. Close to 200 participants working 
 on various areas of African linguistics 
 are expected to attend. This is an international 
 conference and attendees will be coming 
 from the U.S., Africa, Europe and other parts 
 of the world. Hosting of the conference rotates 
 among different U.S. and Canadian institutions 
 on an annual basis. Michigan State University 
 last hosted the conference in 1992, the 
 only other time it hosted it being 1978. ACAL 
 helps promote the research, documentation 
 and dissemination of information on African languages.\n
