SUMMARY:Snares to Wares
DESCRIPTION:
The Research on the Ecology of Carnivores and
their Prey Laboratory at MSU strives to develop
 sustainable solutions for wildlife conservation
issues around the globe. RECaP's Snares
to Wares Initiative works to address the issue
of wire snaring through community-based conservation
methods. Wire snares pose a great
threat to the survival of large mammals in East
African National Parks. Through the Snares
to Wares Initiative, wires from these illegal
wildlife traps are removed from the parks and
transformed into art. Two of the project's
artisans, Mutalib Ngomojik and Sophia Jingo,
are visiting campus from Uganda. Observe their
craft in person, and learn about the large
installation piece they are making on campus.
Talk about the initiative and research with
members of the RECaP team and build your own
 wire creation.\n\n
