SUMMARY:John Preskill: Quantum Computing and the Entanglement Frontier
DESCRIPTION:
FRIB invites the community to a public talk on
quantum computing and the entanglement frontier
at the laboratory on July 27. \n
 \n
 The research
talk features John Preskill, Richard P.
Feynman Professor of Theoretical Physics at
the California Institute of Technology and director
of the Institute for Quantum Information
and Matter at Caltech. It will begin at 8
p.m. in Room 1300 FRIB Laboratory, 640 South
Shaw Lane, on Michigan State University's campus.\n
 \n
 The
 quantum laws governing atoms and
other tiny objects seem to defy common sense,
and information encoded in quantum systems has
weird properties that baffle our feeble human
minds. John Preskill will explain why he
loves quantum entanglement, the elusive feature
 making quantum information fundamentally different
 from information in the macroscopic
 world.\n
 \n
 All Advanced Studies Gateway events
are free and open to the public.\n
 \n
 Parking
is available at the Shaw Lane Parking Ramp and
at the Wharton Center Parking Ramp.\n
 \n
