 A New Form of Hunger in Africa? The Double Burden 
 of Malnutrition\n

 	MSU 
 has contributed to improved nutrition in Africa 
 for decades. Since 1960, and the beginning 
 of MSU's relationship with Africa, the study 
 of Africa's agriculture, food security and 
 food safety have been major tenets of MSU's 
 teaching and research on Africa. The projects 
 undertaken by MSU's Food Security Group, made 
 up of faculty and graduate students from AFRE 
 and other departments, represent an important 
 aspect of partnership with the African continent. 
 The work of the Food Security Group 
 has been supported by MSU Libraries, which provide 
 the materials necessary for research and 
 simultaneously work to document the history 
 of research and partnerships in Africa.\n
 \n
 	Through a selection of library materials, artifacts, 
 and photographs, this exhibit introduces 
 key concepts toward ending hunger and improving 
 livelihood in developing countries. As 
 part of MSU's Year of Global Africa celebration, 
 we wish to share several of the key issues 
 that a dedicated group of MSU faculty, students 
 and staff attempt to address in Africa 
 to ensure access to safe and nutritious food 
 to all.\n
