 Join us for a screening of "Vibrancy of Silence"(2017) 
 to be followed by commentary and discussion 
 with one of the film's directors, Freida 
 Ekotto.\n

 					Film Synopsis:\n
 				\n
 					This 
 is a 90-minute documentary film that 
 highlights the creative achievements of six 
 Sub-Saharan African women in various intellectual 
 and artistic fields, elaborating a visual 
 archive of unprecedented quality and scope. 
 The film reflects on the complex nature of 
 contemporary Sub-Saharan African cultural production 
 by women, prompting the audience to 
 better understand and theorize the new paradigms 
 and voices it highlights. \n

 					About 
 the Series:\n
 				\n
 					In honor of Women's 
 History Month, the African Studies Center, 
 in collaboration with the Center for Gender 
 in a Global Context, presents four films which 
 shine a light on women in Africa and the African 
 Diaspora.\n
 				\n
 					This film series 
 bring a critical eye to issues impacting women 
 on a day-to-day basis, including leadership, 
 justice and perseverance. By combining these 
 films with critical analysis by experts within 
 and beyond the MSU community, we hope to 
 expand understandings of women throughout the 
 Diaspora.\n
 				\n
