SUMMARY:Music and Healing: Finding Our Voice
DESCRIPTION:
 In conjunction with the exhibition, "Finding our 
 Voice: Sister Survivors Speak," survivors, 
 performers,\n
 scholars, and practitioners will 
 discuss the healing power of music in the shadow 
 of gender-based\n
 violence.\n

 Amanda Cormier, 
 a sister survivor, will perform her song 
 "Sometimes," which she\n
 composed in April 
 2019 to mark the opening of "Finding Our Voice". 
 We will also\n
 hear from music therapist Bob 
 Huffman, GRAMMY Nominated singer-songwriter\n
 Isaac 
 Kalumbu, and student performers in Professor 
 Marcie Ray's classes, "Music\n
 and Violence," 
 (MUS 992) and "Music, Gender, and Sexuality" 
 (MUS 424).\n
