SUMMARY:Guest Ensemble: Reveron Trio
DESCRIPTION:
The Reverón Piano Trio is named after Venezuelan
artist Armando Reverón (1889-1954), one of
the pioneers of modernist painting in the Americas.
The Trio pays tribute to Reverón with
a program featuring music by Manuel Ponce, Eduardo
Alonso Crespo, and MSU composition faculty
Ricardo Lorenz. Trio artists: Ana Maria
 Otamendi, guest piano; Simon Gollo, guest violin;
 Horacio Contreras, guest cello. \n
  \n
 Manuel
Ponce was a contemporary of Reverón and a
champion of the nationalist movement in Mexico.
His work is beautifully represented in his
composition Trio Romántico. In turn, Eduardo
Alonso Crespo creates an alluring homage to
the tango, Argentina's national treasure, in
Trio Op. 30. The program also features the world
premiere of La Hamaca (The Hammock), a work
inspired by the 1933 painting by Armando
Reverón and composed by Venezuelan-born Ricardo
 Lorenz. \n\n
