Memory Object Project
(Public Programs) When we lose the people who are close to us they leave things behind. These things are not just curious-they have meaning, like grandma's rosary that came with a lock of her hair or dad's pocket knife he put in the same spot on the top of his dresser every night. Used daily for years, they become emblems of the living souls who possessed them. In this workshop, participants will construct containers or reliquaries to house and celebrate these special inherited possessions. The encapsulation of these mementos is a collaboration with the sensibilities of our lost ones, but in the end we choose how these significant objects go on. Cost of registration ($40) covers instruction and materials. This workshop is led by Michigan-based sculptor and teaching artist Steve Baibak. more information...
