Database and genomic approaches to preterm birth etiology

The presentation will include background on existing repository based studies of preterm birth and evidence for the role of gnetics in its etiology. We will outline genomic approaches to preterm birth as a complex traits including gene expression analysis and genome wide association and present data from both candidate gene and genome wide studies from work in Iowa, Argentina, and Denmark. Future directions including a study of African Americans and preterm birth and its complications will also be presented.
