Panayis Lyras, piano  (Performing Arts (Dance, Music, Theatre, ...))

More about Panayis Lyras

Featuring the music of Robert Schumann, this program will include the brilliant and fiery Sonata in G minor, Op. 22, and the colorful Carnaval, Op. 9. Proclaimed by Franz Liszt as "one of the greatest works I know," Carnaval is a series of vignettes, a masked ball in which one character after another takes center stage. Schumann's imagination is in full bloom as his alter egos (Florestan and Eusebius) encounter his two loves (Clara and Ernestine), along with clowns, harlequins, Chopin, and Paganini.
