Colloquia Series Event - Islam and the Qur'an in the Abrahamic Tradition

In September 2010, a descrated copy of the Quran was found in front of the Islamic Center of East Lansing. In response to that event, the MSU Libraries and the Muslim Studies Program present an opportunity to learn about Islam and to uphold MSU's commitment to inclusion and diversity.
Panelists:
* Marc Bernstein (Associate Professor of Hebrew and Israeli Culture, MSU Dept. of Linguistics & Germanic, Slavic, Asian, and African Languages) will speak on the similarities and differences between the Jewish and Islamic traditions.
* Robert Anderson (Professor Emeritus, Religious Studies) will compare the treatment of Jesus and Mary in the Quran and the New Testament.
* Abdalmajid Katranji, MD, MBA (Katranji Hand Center, East Lansing, MI) will discuss locating Islam in the Abrahamic tradition.
* Mohammed Ayoob (University Distinguished Professor of International Relations and Coordinator, Muslim Studies Program) will moderate the discussion.
