Malaria: Historical Perspective Towards Global Elimination
(Conferences / Seminars / Lectures) Edward D. Walker, Professor, Departments of Entomology, and Microbiology and Molecular Genetics reports that malaria remains one of the most important parasitic infections of mankind, infecting and killing millions of people every year. This talk will review the historical context of anti-malaria programs, their successes and failures, and will examine the present day concept of regional malaria elimination through use of such appropriate technological tools as insecticide treated bed nets.
