The Lincoln's and the Civil War
(Exhibits (Museum, Gardens, ...))
The Michigan State University Museum presents a new exhibit, "Lincoln's Assassination," in the Ground Floor Gallery May 22 through Oct. 2.
The exhibit is a companion to the museum's special exhibit, "Michigan and the Civil War: the 150th Anniversary" and part of national observance on the part of museums, libraries and schools during the sesquicentennial of the Civil War.
Lansing collector and historian Rick Brown has loaned original newspapers and other paper materials for "Lincoln's Assassination," which also covers the funeral train and the multiple funeral and memorial ceremonies, as well as the capture, trial and hanging of the assassination conspirators. Brown will also present a lecture, "Little Known Facts About the Lincolns and the Civil War," on Sunday, May 22 at 2 p.m., in the museum auditorium. The program is presented free of charge. Brown operates historybuff.com and sets up his traveling exhibition at historical festivals, Civil War musters, historical societies and libraries. He also gives presentations.
