MSU Opera Theatre presents Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert and Sullivan
(Performing Arts (Dance, Music, Theatre, ...))
DIRECTOR
Melanie Helton
CONDUCTOR
Adam Boyles, director of orchestras at MIT
Move over, Captain Jack Sparrow, MSU Opera Theatre presents its own "Pirate King," a very "Modern Major General," and a bevy of bubbling beauties in Gilbert and Sullivan's uproarious comic opera, The Pirates of Penzance. Sir Arthur Sullivan's lilting melodies blend with W.S. Gilbert's sparkling words to create an evening of outrageous fun in the theatre. Sung in English (with English surtitles), this production is perfect for family fun.
A preview lecture will be held 45 minutes before each performance.
The 2011-12 MSU Opera Theatre season is funded by the Worthington Family Foundation.
