Saxophonist Joseph Lulloff joins Solaris, the faculty ensemble in residence at the University of Akron, to present a program of masterworks for the wind quintet, including the Michigan premiere of Daniel McCarthy's "Black Belt, White Cadillac" for wind quintet and saxophone. Other works on the program include Danzi's Quintet in F major, Alec Wilder's Quintet No. 10, and Milhaud's Scaramouche for saxophone and quintet. Solaris members, who all teach at the University of Akron, include George Pope, flute, Jack Cozen Harel, oboe, Kristina Belisle Jones, clarinet, William Hoyt, horn, and Cynthia Cioffari, bassoon. McCarthy is composer in residence at the University of Akron and his recorded works have been nominated for several Grammy Awards.
