First Sunday Gallery Walk Opening Reception for "Weavings of War"
(Exhibits (Museum, Gardens, ...))
From noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, visit the "Weavings of War" exhibit opening reception at the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities' LookOut! Gallery in Snyder-Phillips Hall.
"Weavings of War" presents objects from the collections of the MSU Museum, Ariel Zeitlin Cooke of Montclair, NJ, and Chris Worland of East Lansing. With textiles from Asia, Africa, and North and South America, the exhibit represents an eloquent and powerful testimony of the impacts of modern warfare in our world and the relevancy and resilience of folk arts in contemporary life. Many of the pieces, along with the wall texts and labels, were in the 2006 exhibition of the same name produced by the MSU Museum, City Lore, and the Vermont Folklife Center, and curated by Zeitlin and Marsha MacDowell.
The Residential College in the Arts and Humanities is hosting the exhibit from June 11 through September 21, 2012, and regular gallery hours are from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. For additional information about "Weavings of War," visit rcah.msu.edu. more information...
