MSU WebDev CAFE 2012 Summer Forum  (Special Events)

THEME

What MSU developers need to know about licensing and open source applications?
The summer forum will explore a variety of related topics/questions related to licensing, including:
* What should MSU developers know regarding using open source code in developing sites for MSU?
* What kinds of licensing agreements can they enter into, and what kinds can they not?
* Can they share code they write with other MSU developers?
* Who in the University is permitted to write and release programming as open source?
* If a developer has produced web programming or an app that she/he thinks might be commercially viable for the University, with whom can she/he work to determine next steps (if any)?
* What are some examples of MSU projects that have been developed through both commercial and open source licenses, and what lessons have been learned from them?
