Arts and Letters 50th Anniversary Mosaic-making
(Special Events)
From 9 am - 2 pm on Tuesday, July 31, outside
the east end of Wells Hall A Wing, the College
of Arts and Letters 50th anniversary group is
going to be creating a tile mosaic that will
spell out CAL on a prepared and stained piece
of wood as a fun collaborative project for our
50th anniversary. The site is at the east end
of the southern-most wing of Wells Hall
adjacent to the International Center building's
lower-level rear patio seating area. There
will be tables for supplies and the mosaic
will be on a large easel. Professor Danielle
DeVoss, Writing, Rhetoric and American
Cultures, and our Creativity Exploratory
Fellows and CAL staff members will be there
executing the event. They will be be inviting
passersby and faculty, students and staff
to place a tile in the mosaic and help create
it. We plan to videotape the mosaic-making
process, take the finished video, and speed
it up to show the mosaic being created in
fast-time over about 60 seconds or so.
Sparty is coming from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m., and
he will place the last tile around 2 p.m.
