First Sunday Gallery Walk Opening Reception for "Conversation"
(Exhibits (Museum, Gardens, ...))
From 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 7, join the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities (RCAH) in celebrating the opening of "Conversation," a solo fiber installation by Xia Gao, Assistant Professor in MSU's Department of Art, Art History, and Design. Video produced by Lois Patiņo.
"Conversation" visually explores issues and events in the changing urban landscape through an art installation. It suggests the fragility of the urban landscape and questions its sustainability, especially in relation to the vulnerability of the constructed environment and its dependence and impact on nature. The installation's social focus and engagement highlight the interplay of fibers/textiles with space, using a mixed media approach.
"Conversation" runs through October 19, 2012, in the RCAH's LookOut! Gallery. Regular hours are Monday through Friday, 12 to 3 p.m.
