Global Center for Food Systems Innovation Luncheon
(Academic)
Michigan State University's awarded designation as a Global Center for Food Systems Innovation is committed to studying agriculture as a critical part of the equation for solving problems of food production across the globe. The designation will build on the current related assets in the region.
If you have not already registered to attend the luncheon forum featuring the Midwest region's agricultural assets and their role in economic recovery, you will want to do that today. The forum will focus on better linking the Midwest agricultural industry to the world economy with regional partners. It will be a briefing to policymakers, community leaders, and researchers on the important connection between agriculture work force and related strengths in food production, alternative energy, bio-engineered material, and manufacturing. The agricultural sector already accounts for 20 percent of the jobs held in the State of Michigan. Michigan State University's awarded designation as a Global Center for Food Systems Innovation will attract more agricultural talent to the State.
There is no charge to attend and a light lunch is provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. Register by email to ippsr-action@ssc.msu.edu or calling 517.355.6672. Speakers include:
Ajit Srivastava, Ph.D. professor and chairperson, Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering, Michigan State University
Jim Byrum, President, Michigan Agri-Business Association
