At 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, Li-Young Lee will be reading poetry in the RCAH Theater. You can also join him for a conversation at 3 p.m. in C201 Snyder.
Li-Young Lee is the author of four critically acclaimed books of poetry, his most recent being Behind My Eyes (W.W. Norton, 2008). His earlier collections are Book of My Nights (BOA Editions, 2001); Rose (BOA, 1986); The City in Which I Love You (BOA, 1991); and a memoir entitled The Winged Seed: A Remembrance (Simon and Schuster, 1995).
Lee was born in Indonesia to Chinese parents in 1957 and moved to the United States in 1964 to escape anti-Chinese sentiments. Lee has received numerous honors, including a fellowship from the National Endowment of the Arts, and the Writer's Award from the Mrs. Giles Whiting Foundation. His poetry explores the solemn beauty of human nature through its use of sound and form. Lee lives with his wife Donna and their two sons in Chicago.
