Martin Luther King Jr, Trayvon Martin, and MSU  (Public Programs)

The College of Arts and Letters will conduct a panel discussion in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, January 20th from 7:00-9:00 PM. The faculty-run panel discussion will take place in room 115 of the International Center.

This year's topic is "Racial Profiling, a Threat to Justice: Martin Luther King, Jr, Trayvon Martin, and MSU, and will be of interest to students, faculty, and community members from all disciplines and backgrounds. Confirmed panelists include David Kirkland, Writing, Rhetoric, and American Culture and CAITLAH; Sheila Contreras, Department of English; and Catherine Grosso, MSU College of Law. Professor Ken Harrow, College of Arts and Letters Faculty Excellence Advocate, will moderate the panel discussion.

Several units within the College of Arts and Letters have well-established track records sponsoring activities in connection with Martin Luther King Jr. Day, making this a much anticipated event. Last year's topic, "Martin Luther King's Legacy and the Future of Affirmative Action" was also very well received by both students and faculty.
