Faculty Emeriti Association Lecture - The Impact of Evil - When Victims Tolerate Tyranny
(Conferences / Seminars / Lectures) Professor of Psychiatry Frank Ochberg will discuss this theme, drawing on his experience as the prosecution expert witness in the notorious case of Ariel Castro who held three women captive for a decade in his Cleveland home. Dr. Ochberg is credited with defining "The Stockholm Syndrome" and with developing, with colleagues, the diagnosis Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He is Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at MSU, former Associate Director of the NIMH, and he served in the cabinet of Governor Milliken as director of the Michigan Department of Mental Health. more information...
