Visit of Filmmaker Fred Kuwornu, to show Inside Buffalo and 18 Ius Soli
(Movie / Film)
We would like to invite you to join us in welcoming Fred Kuwornu, Afro-Italian filmmaker, on November 12th in Wells C-640 from 7-10pm. His visit will be accompanied with a screening of his engaging films 18 IUS SOLI and Inside Buffalo followed by a discussion of the films and Q&A led by Fred Kuwornu and Professor Kenneth Harrow.
An Italian-Ghanaian filmmaker, producer, and activist, Fred Kuwornu was born and raised in Italy, and is in the United States to present his two documentary films. 18 IUS SOLI (2012) examines issues of race and ethnicity, in contemporary Italy. His film asks, What does it mean to be black and Italian today? Inside Buffalo (2010), like Spike Lee's "Miracle at Santa Anna," looks at the role of Black soldiers, called "Buffaloes," in World War II.
Learn more about the films on the website where you can also view the trailers.
