Making It in Detroit: Songs of Working Class Life  (Performing Arts (Dance, Music, Theatre, ...))

Featuring Don "Doop" Duprie

Featured twice on Dick Gordon's NPR Radio show "The Story," Don "Doop"
Duprie, a fireman and leader of the rock-and-roll band The Inside Outlaws,
became the voice for the declining white working class in the communities
downriver from Detroit. He has released four CDs including "Blood River"
and "What Am I Supposed to Do?". Duprie's style runs the gamut from rock to
country with well-written songs that bring out the sense of loss, confusion,
and rage that accompany the struggle to "make it" in the Motor City.
