Anti-Semitism in the 21st Century: An Illusion? Or Time to Start Worrying?
(Conferences / Seminars / Lectures)
Deborah E. Lipstadt, Dorot Professor of Modern Jewish and Holocaust Studies, Emory University
In the past few years anti-Semitism--particularly, but not only, in Europe--has been on the rise. First of all, is this trend real or is simply linked to events in the Middle East? Is it anti-Israelism or anti-Semitism? If it is indeed a real phenomenon, what are the causes of this development? What does it say about the future of Diaspora Jewish communities? What about the United States?
Co-sponsored by Department of History, James Madison College, the Center for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies, and Peace and Justice Studies.
