Appointed by President Obama in 2009 as assistant administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency Office of Air and Radiation, and subsequently appointed head of the EPA in 2013, throughout her 30-year career Gina McCarthy has been a leading voice for common-sense strategies to protect public health and the environment.
