Center for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies is hostingCarl Folke, honorary degree awardee and Rachel Carson Distinguished Lecturer, for an informal luncheon discussion.
Carl Folke, born 1955, is a trans-disciplinary environmental scientist and a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. He is a specialist in economics, resilience, and social-ecological systems. He is Science Director of the Stockholm Resilience Centre and the Director of the Beijer Institute of Ecological Economics of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
Folke has co-authored and edited 10 books and written over 200 scientific papers, over 15 of which have been published in Science and Nature. With a h-index of 110 he is one of the most cited scientists in the world.[1][2] Since 2002 he has served as Co-Editor in Chief of Ecology and Society. His most recent completion is Chapin, Kofinas, Folke (Eds.), Principles of Natural Resource Stewardship: Resilience-Based Management in a Changing World, Springer 2009, ISBN 978-0387730325.
