Workshop: Tackling Free Speech in the Classroom  (Conferences / Seminars / Lectures)

The Council of Graduate Students will be celebrating the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. by hosting a workshop: Tackling Free Speech in the Classroom, facilitated by Jessica Garcia, assistant professor of sociology and faculty associate to the Office for Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives. We hope you can join us for a spirited conversation that touches on issues of identity - race, socioeconomic status, religion, etc. - that frequently come up in class discussions. How can TAs and instructors support open conversations around these topics while maintaining a safe and respectful environment for their students? Garcia will lead this workshop aimed at providing graduate and professional students and student instructors with skills to navigate identity-related discussions in the classroom.
